Supernanny supports the Campaign

We were recently contacted by Jo Frost, aka the Supernanny, to express her support for Gigi’s Campaign. Jo offered her support, time and expertise because she cares about children and is committed to their safety and wellbeing. We are very grateful for her support. Jo has prepared a short statement in support of the Campaign which is set out below:

Jo Frost Demands Urgent Overhaul of Nursery Safeguarding in Support of Gigi’s Campaign

Jo Frost world-renowned parenting expert and child advocate has issued a powerful public statement supporting Gigi’s Campaign, calling for sweeping reforms in the UK’s early years childcare sector following the tragic and preventable death of Genevieve “Gigi” Meehan in nursery care.

“Gigi’s life mattered. Her death must not be in vain,” said Frost. “We must move from grief to governance—from tragedy to tangible reform.”

Jo Frost, best known for her parental expertise on the Supernanny Show and her four decades of leadership work with families across the globe, is now joining the campaign led by Gigi’s parents, Katie and John Meehan, who have bravely turned their unimaginable grief into a national call to action.

Gigi’s Campaign Is a Wake-Up Call. Genevieve’s death has sparked outrage across the UK and exposed alarming weaknesses in how nursery care is regulated and monitored.

Jo Frost is amplifying Gigi’s Campaign’s urgent demands for:

Compulsory CCTV in nursery settings.

Unannounced inspections by Ofsted to be routine in Early Years settings.

Review of CCTV footage during Ofsted inspections.

Clear, statutory safe sleep guidance for Early Years settings.

Mandatory safe sleep training for all nursery staff and Ofsted inspectors.

Clear statutory guidance as to the use of sleep products in Early Years settings.

Mental health screening and safeguarding assessments for all early years staff.

The formation of an independent Early Years Safeguarding Regulator to replace internal-only reviews.

Whistleblower protections to allow staff to report red flags without fear.

A national “Never Again” protocol for transparent, immediate response to childcare incidents.

“Too many families place trust in nursery settings assuming their children are safe,” said Frost. “One failure in safeguarding is all it takes to end a life—and that failure is on the system, not just the individual.”

Using her Public Voice to Drive Real Change

Jo Frost has committed to lending her voice across national media, digital platforms, and policy advocacy channels to ensure Gigi’s Campaign remains in the public eye and sparks meaningful legislative reform.

She is calling upon broadcasters, journalists, and Members of Parliament to give urgent attention to the gaps in current regulations and to place child safety at the centre of government policy.

“This is not just about Gigi. It’s about every child. Every parent. Every family who deserves to know that a nursery is a place of safety not risk.”
