We continue to be so grateful to each and every one of you that have shared and supported Gigi’s Campaign. It is through adding your voice to the Campaign that we can make a real difference to the safety of children in nursery settings. We believe your support is making a real difference. In recent weeks we have met with the Government regarding the Campaign and we explained the strength of feeling amongst parents that nursery settings must be safer. The Government indicated that they have been in correspondence with Ofsted regarding strengthening the inspection regime and have since announced that Ofsted will move towards 4 yearly inspections rather than the current 6. In addition, they agreed to arrange a meeting between the Campaign and Ofsted in order that we can explain why it is so vital that we have a robust and effective inspection regime that prioritises the safety of children above all else. In addition, the Government agreed to start work with us and the Lullaby Trust on strengthening the statutory requirements for safe sleep in nursery settings.

However, we do not consider this is a time to be complacent and so much more needs to be done. It is vitally important that we demonstrate the strength of feeling amongst parents that the safety of children in nursery settings must be a priority not an afterthought. It is more important than ever that you share the Campaign with your local MP and urge them to support it and for them to engage with our MP Tom Morrison and sign his Early Day Motion. Share the Campaign with your friends and family and ask them to support it. It is through this collective strength of feeling that the Government will be compelled to act to really prioritise the safety of children.

In recent weeks we have spoken extensively about the Campaign in the media. We have set out below some of the contributions we have made.
